The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Western
North Carolina 2011 Scholarship Recipient - Devin Turner, Conover, NC.
Here are a few excerpts to illustrate Devin's outstanding qualities.
"His high level of intelligence is rarely seen at the high school level. Mixed with this intelligence is the mind of a dreamer and planner."
Sarah McBride
School Counselor
Bunker Hill High School
"He is incredibly bright. He is an independent thinker. He is socially adept and empathetic with others.....a leader."
The Rev. Dr. Mark Watson
First Presbyterian Church
"Driven by his interests, Devin is planning to pursue a degree in mechanical or aeronautical engineering.....his ambition extends far beyond the pursuit of academic achievement. Devin perceives his education as an evolutionary process that will allow him the independence to continually create, develop new ideas, and grow intellectually."
David J. Paul
We are very fortunate to have found a recipient as qualified as Devin Turner.

Many thanks to Beth Ariss, Scholarship Chairman, and to the following club members for their help at these Fairs: Beth, and Tracey Fowler at Haywood Community College; Fred Dutcher, and Nancy Durose at Blue Ridge Community College; and Dave Schreck, Bill and JoAnne Thomas, and Beth at the Asheville Mall.
